Session 8

The Journey of Transformation

Based on Chapter 8

Opening Thought

Transformation is not an event—it's a journey. As disciples of Jesus, our growth is ongoing. Step 11 reminds us that through prayer and conscious contact with God, we are continually shaped, refined, and renewed. This transformation doesn't just improve us; it makes us new. As we walk with Christ daily, we begin to reflect more of His character and less of our old selves.

Key Scriptures

"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."

Romans 12:2

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."

2 Corinthians 5:17

"Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me."

Psalm 51:10
Questions
  1. 1

According to Romans 12:2, transformation begins with the renewal of the mind. What does that look like in your daily walk with Christ?

  2. 2

The book says that prayer and meditation are not just disciplines but part of our transformation. How has your prayer life changed as your relationship with Jesus has grown?

  3. 3

The author writes about the progression from saying simple prayers to having daily conversations with God. What does your personal prayer practice look like today?

  4. 4

The author references several types of prayer: repentance, intercession, gratitude, worship, and conversation. Which of these do you practice most? Which would you like to grow in?

  5. 5

Step 11 emphasizes “conscious contact with God.” What helps you stay aware of God's presence during your day?

  6. 6

Transformation often means letting go of control. What are some areas in your life that you've surrendered to God—and how has He transformed them?

Personal Reflection & Action

Reflection

Take time to think about how you've changed since you truly began your walk with Christ. What are one or two major transformations you've experienced?

Action Step

Commit to spending at least 5–10 minutes in quiet prayer or Scripture meditation each day this week. Before you begin each day, pray this: "God, I want to be transformed by You today. Speak to me, renew my mind, and help me live like Jesus." Be prepared to share next time what changed for you.

Prayer

Father, thank You for the ongoing work You are doing in each of our lives. We invite You to renew our minds, restore our hearts, and transform us daily. Help us to remain connected to You through prayer, to listen for Your voice, and to reflect Jesus in all that we do. Make us new creations every day. In Jesus' name, amen.
